Our Mission: Ending Violence Across Generations

Since 2008, Kering Foundation has been combatting gender-based violence experienced by 1 in 3 women worldwide and 1 in 5 children in Europe. Our mission is to contribute to ending this violence, which can be passed on from generation to generation, by resourcing partner organizations, engaging Kering and its ecosystem, and influencing others.

Retracing Our Singular Commitment

Aware of the need to tackle violence against women, François-Henri Pinault – then CEO of PPR (now Kering) – launched the PPR Corporate Foundation for Women’s Dignity and Rights in 2008. Singular to this day, the corporate philanthropy initiative stands out for its commitment to combating gender-based violence. It aligns with the Group’s ambition to shape a fairer and more inclusive society by focusing its approach on women, which is consistent with the Group’s largely female workforce and customer base. In no more than five years, 140,000 women benefited, with 47 partnerships initiated.

2013 saw the Foundation become the ‘Fondation Kering’ at the time of the Group’s change of name, shifting its focus to Kering’s operating regions in an effort to further enhance impact and mobilize its employees.

A decade later, building on its 15 years of existence and working hand-in-hand with specialist organizations, the Foundation decided to deepen its strategy by broadening its scope of action to child protection, in order to disrupt the cycle of violence passed down from generation to generation. Moreover, in an endeavor to amplify its commitment and facilitate collaborations with the Group’s Houses, other companies and foundations, Kering changed the legal status of its corporate foundation to an endowment fund, renaming it the ‘Kering Foundation’.
