Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women Dinner Supports Economic Empowerment for Survivors

The Kering Foundation hosted its 4th Caring for Women Dinner on September 11 2025 in New York City, uniting leaders from arts, culture, fashion, and philanthropy to support survivors of gender-based violence. A total of $4.5 million was raised in support of four NGOs that empower survivors by providing financial security.

The Kering Foundation hosted the fourth annual Caring for Women Dinner, bringing together figures from the arts, culture, fashion, and philanthropy communities to support organizations combating gender-based violence.

Held on September 11 2025 at The Pool in Manhattan during New York Fashion Week, the evening was co-hosted by Salma Hayek Pinault and François-Henri Pinault, alongside Jessica Chastain, Colman Domingo, Dolores Huerta, Jeff Koons, Demi Moore and Julianne Moore.

Guests came together for an intimate dinner, guided throughout the evening by the vibrant Ariana DeBose. The program featured a passionate keynote from Diane von Furstenberg and an auction led by Lydia Fenet, offering one-of-a-kind creations and experiences from Kering’s Houses—including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Boucheron, Pomellato, and Ginori 1735—alongside original artworks from Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons. The evening closed with a poignant performance by FKA twigs, Ambassador for Sistah Space.

“To ensure that women and children can live free from gender-based violence, we must commit to providing survivors with the resources and support necessary to rebuild their lives with autonomy and safety,” said François-Henri Pinault, Chairman of Kering and the Kering Foundation, during his opening remarks.

Recognizing that economic empowerment is essential to safety, independence, and long-term stability for those experiencing violence, this year’s Caring for Women Dinner raised $4.5 million to support four organizations working to create pathways to financial security and justice for survivors:

Equality Now

Equality Now is a worldwide human rights organization dedicated to securing the legal and systemic change needed to end discrimination against all women and girls. Working with partners at national, regional and global levels, it draws on deep legal expertise and a diverse range of social, political and cultural perspectives to drive the change needed to achieve enduring gender equality.

Funds raised will help strengthen the ecosystem of changemakers working to end sexual and gender-based violence and advance economic justice in Latin America through survivor empowerment, leadership development, legal advocacy, and community-driven reform.

FreeFrom

FreeFrom is on a mission to end gender-based violence by building economic freedom and safety with survivors. A national organization led by queer, transgender, im/migrant, and BIPOC survivors, they create survivor-centered programs that promote financial stability, build collective power, push for meaningful change in laws and institutions, and change the narrative on GBV from one of pain to one of possibility. Funds raised will support GIFTED, their social enterprise that offers survivors pathways to financial independence through entrepreneurship and living-wage jobs, and their savings matching program that helps survivors build $1,440 in savings, increasing their financial security and safety.

Sanctuary for Families

Sanctuary for Families is New York's leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and related forms of gender violence. Each year, Sanctuary’s holistic shelter, clinical, legal, and economic empowerment services help thousands of the city’s most marginalized survivors and their families move forward on their journeys from immediate survival, to stability, to self-sufficiency. Funds raised will support Sanctuary’s Economic Empowerment Programs—whose intensive workshops impart digital skills, develop literacy, and lead to sustainable living-wage jobs—as well as a range of supportive services that help clients attain long-term stability and freedom from violence.

Violence intervention program

The Violence Intervention Program is the only organization in New York City dedicated specifically to supporting Latina survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Their mission is to help survivors find safety, heal from abuse, and build strong, independent futures. They raise awareness, advocate for change, and provide culturally responsive services. Funds raised will help expand their Economic Justice Program, offering trauma-informed financial literacy, business development, and marketing workshops, along with emergency assistance and community-based advocacy for survivors.
