Breaking cycles of domestic abuse to give babies the best start in life
- Around 1 in 5 children in the UK experience domestic abuse, often when still in the womb.
- The UK’s Domestic Abuse Act 2021 gives a legal definition of domestic abuse which recognizes children as victims in their own right.
- Each year in the UK, nearly 50,000 babies are referred to Children’s Social Care because of domestic abuse.
Lasting change through therapeutic support
For Baby’s Sake offers free, therapeutic support. Through weekly, tailored sessions, parents explore modules like Healthy Expressions of Feelings and use tools such as Video Interaction Guidance to strengthen their communication, parenting, and emotional awareness.
The program is backed by a strong commitment to evidence and system change. It combines in-depth data collection with a deep understanding of trauma, early childhood development, and family dynamics. By supporting families with complex needs and advocating for policy and practice shifts, For Baby’s Sake is not only transforming individual lives—it’s helping reshape how everyone can address domestic abuse from the very start of a child’s life.
Kering Foundation’s support is dedicated to expanding their reach by providing seed funding for the launch of a new team in North East England.
