Building a future free from violence for children and their families
- In 2022, an estimated 1,990 children died from abuse and neglect in the United States.
- Nearly half of all U.S. children experience at least one type of childhood trauma.
Preventing violence against children by helping children and their families before a crisis occurs
Healthy Families America is a voluntary home visiting program that is research-based and free. The idea behind this program is to support children and families by coming into their homes and giving them the tools to lead healthy relationships. To be as relevant as possible, home visitors come from the communities that they serve, and the model can be adapted to meet unique needs of communities and individual families.
This program has been proven to:
- Reduce child abuse and neglect and reduce violence against women
- Improve maternal and child health
- Improve family economic stability and mobility
- Better prepare children for school
The Kering Foundation supports the expansion of Healthy Families America so that it can reach even more families across the U.S. and help more children get the best possible start in life.
Leading Prevention since 1972

Through a vast network of affiliated state chapters and program sites, it supports more than three million children and families every year.
Alongside the Healthy Families America home-visiting program, PCA America conducts research to stay up to date on the best practices. It also advocates for and works on policies and programs that effectively support families across the country.
